Quote:Just updating my fall squid progress... I've been going to the canal east end trying up to 2/hrs after high tide with not much luck. Last year it was already going pretty good there by this time but not much there yet ( I got one in about an hour and a few were caught around me) On the plus side the ones that were caught were huge long fin squid. I might make a trip to Goat island tonight but have not heard any info about how it is there. Anyone get down to Provincetown yet this fall? Its a long ride for me but worth it if they are there.
Â
I live in boston so I can't get down as often as I would like. My first trip to goat almost three weeks ago I got about 12, from my boat. it shut down and I got two more around the Ft. Adams pier.Â
Â
I assumed all the squid go to RI in the fall, but I'd like to check out buzzards bay...anyone have luck there?
Anyone got status report on the fall squid run?Â
Â
Thanks in advance.
Tried to go but weather not oooperating! Supposed to be18 degrees tonight with some snow tomorrow. Just want to get in s couple of nights but I donât know if the weather will cooperate.
Sunday 11.11.18 I took the boat out to Newport bridge because I heard decent bites a few night before. Started setup around 5:30(dark) sky under the bridge around pole 26 &27 in 26 deep. Jigged about an hour without luck. Moved to 35, bites were on for half hour then bite died. Went to sleep in cabin but its still really cold (27 degree). Woke up 3:00am and jigged a few more. Totaled about 50 squids. Fall run has been on for at least two weeks before I get the news. Its probably too cold to go now. I hope I can get out there again. Squid are delicious this time of year. Their bodies are thick and crunchy. Love it.
Going to try this Sat night in Newport via boat. Anyone been lately besides Tongvo?
The water temp is 52 in Newport. That was the temp last fall when it was pretty good for a few days. Good luck! I may give it a try!

Hi TongVo,
You're not late for the season, they're just not in thick and heavy yet.
The season just starting, I am taking the boat out this weekend.
I'll let you guys know how it went.
Thanks for the report.
