Just curious, anyone used a spool of Flurocarbon instead of Braid for Squidding?
Braid is getting on my nerves a little <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Braid all the way
Hahaha, can't say I agree on mono.
It's visible compared to fc, and not as sensitive as braid.
I've been using braid, but the reason I asked about fc is that I got sample of castable fc and was curious if it was worth the effort to remove the braid and spool the fc.
I'll save it for something else.
You don't need sensitivity when fishing for squid, you need stretch and mono provides far more than fluorocarbon.
THANKS FOR THAT IMFORMATION RELAPSE .I WILL USE MONO FROM NOW ON , AS I WAS TRYING TO USE BRAID AND WAS HAVING A LOT TROUBLE WITH IT. I HAVE JUST ORDERED SOME JIGS FROM JAPAN AS YOU SUGGESTED. THANKS FOR THAT!!
try using a fluro leader on mono....works for me...I think you can shove braid up your a55 as far as you can and some..hahahahahah..jmo
the mug
Relapse,
I'm curious, how do you squid?
Japanese style or other ways?
On topic, my feeling about braid has changed.
When I originally started this thread, I was using general spinning reels and was having a lot of problems with braid.
After maybe half a dozen or so cast/retrieves, I'd always end up with wind knots etc.
But since then, I've moved over to egi/finesse reels, and have never had those issues with braid.
Perhaps my technique has improved, or maybe those reels just handle the braid & retrieve action much better.
But at the end of the day, what works for you, stick with it.

I use a mixture of techniques, all depends on how the squid are reacting at the time and what kind of bottom I'm fishing.
