I fish for smelt/herring! Best spot is Deception pass at Cornet bay! or offset areas are Oak Harbor & La Conner. I fish Edmonds and get smelt there from time to time. Kingston too!

Well I made my own light over the holidays. He was a good jigger, just having a bad night I guess. At least now I don't have to fish off his light anymore.
Does anyone here jig for smelt too?

Would love to find out about smelts as well. Great fish to eat.
Well I have a Sabiki rig on the way, might get it today in time to try some smelt jigging tonight. I hear a number 4 or 5 smelt/Herring rig is what you want to use here

Tell us your report on smelts.
Went out squidding this morning and got around 4 pounds before a seal came in and decided to bite my jig and snap my line. I lost a jig that I got while pulling up a crab pot in the summer. Does anyone know where I can buy this jig?
you can buy it at teds sports center in lynnwood they have lots and work well

Edmonds tonight I got 3 lbs in 3 hours. Fishing was a lot better there than the past few weeks.
Went to les Davis today fished the evening high tide. It wasn't good at only got 7 squid. Left around 5 pm lots of people hardly any squid
Anyone know where to pick up some good jigs around Tacoma area?
At Edmonds last night, I got 12 squid, 3 lbs of Herring and a flounder, haha. I also caught 2 starfish and a kelp crab, was an exciting night of squidding, hah.
Herring taste great and are fun to catch as well. If you are squidding this time of year I recommend to keep a size 5 Sabiki rig in your jig box. Squid are slow and see a school of Herring or smelt? Clip on the Sabiki rig and use a bottom squid jig as the weight.
Keep a 30lb outfit with you and drift a live squid, a seal is one hell of a fight!! Passes the time anyways.
Until you get caught harassing a federally protected species and end up in jail.
looks like the squid season has ended here in the northwest. See you all again next year.

Not so fast (!) Some guys are still getting 5-8 lbs a night in Seattle. It's definitely slowing down, though. More bad days than good days. I caught only 12 squid last night....but, it's not over yet.
