Hi gang.
Just jumped back on again for this season.
Can anyone update how it went over the weekend with the new moon? It would be great to start getting into some squid again.

I can tell you this.. Squidding seems to have died off last couple days.. I was not out in the rain (torrential down-pour) ..but the action seemed to slow down preceding this big rain storm. Have faith though.. you are right on schedule. Now is a good time to go for it and get some squid. Heck, the charter boats don't even start sqidding 'til months end.. so you are "early". Some of us early birds have started the calimari fish fry way ahead of schedule though...Squid have been hitting for a good couple of weeks now,.. for the die-hard squdder... mmm I love calimari!!! Good luck!!! P.S. all my squidding has been from shore.. will try the boat this week..
Cant wait for the weather to break so we can go squidding again <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':clown:' />
Squids are every where now, just put in the times you will get reward.
This is from Newport at Goat Island Friday about 3 hours of nonstop fishing.
I can't complain since April is not even over yet <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Have fun everyone ...
Heading down to GI tomorrow (weds night) with a small genny. who else is coming?
Do you need your own light to fish GI?
Tony where have you been? We didn't see you out too much last year. Suzy Squid and I are planning our first trip this week end. We hope to see you soon. Anyone here from from Alan or Spawnie. Buster blue you planning on doing some sauiding this year?
Oh man, looks like I missed something fun.
My greasy italian self and a few friends of mine (a frog, a limey, and a jew) will all be there tonight near the top of the tide, we'll be the ones with the green underwater light and a generator running a portable stove, I'll be-a making a nice-a spaghetti sauce <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

See you all around 10!

John,
After initial squid runs at New Port, I try to avoid Goat Island <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> too much trouble and headache there during weekend. I only goes there to see you and Suzie <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />
Allan got one of the biggest squid/mackerel on Friday and he went home right away and cook dinner <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> Cool thing to do if you live close by.
Let me know which day you will be there, I'll try to get down and say hi.
I'll be making my first trip tomorrow night around a public dock I found. I don't know if it will be good but only one way to find out. Been driving past it every time I go stripah fishing, seems like no one try for squid there.
Stay tuned for a false report. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Decent night last night @ GI, pulled 12 - 15 in about 3 hours. A few of them being "bucket benders"
I fished for about 3 hours near GI and caught about a dozen. The four other fishern that were there all caught squid as well..Some real big squid showing up now. I saw one at about 2 1/2 feet long!! And.., no sqidding season is complete without catching a solid ink shot to the eye-ball..Caught a direct hit last night..and the little bugger got away too!!!
heading out fri night with my buddy dj red. anybody have any tips on catching some of the mackeral or eels that have been reported to be around?
Excellent night squishin', there were more tubahs then a used instrument store
Going down tomorrow night. Has anyone tried Fort Wetherill yet?
I'm pretty sure I'm heading down tonight for a few hours not t late cause of school crap but I figured IDE give it a try
Went out last night an hour or so before the top of the tide with some friends of mine, we were squidding off the stone wall next to the yellow ladder with an underwater lamp. Caught 15 in the first hour, then closer to high tide it quit. We caught them on both green and orange textured jigs, the orange jig was rigged on one of those telescoping "panfish rods" with no reel, with just about 13 feet of line on it, I have a blast with that thing.
All squid were caught with the jigs just out of sight, and we noticed that there wasn't a whole lot of baitfish around like past springs, though this is the earliest we've headed down in a few seasons, I'm sure those little guys will show up in the next week or two.
Nice big squid around, the 2 1/2 footerpetermeix123 mentioned I'm sure isn't a fish story, we had a couple easily that size.
Anyone else talk to that crazy french talking drunk fellah with the umbrella cane? I wish I knew french and could function with the amount of booze he had in him, damn impressive <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
