I have decided to start Kingfishing but all I've got is a decent reel loaded with braid any suggestions would be appreciated
PS i chose this site because i thought that lots of people use squid for bait
I've got a kayak too is there any way i can catch kingys from a kayak
Definately, depending on your kayak of course but a mate of mine even takes his out to long reef and jigs for kings.
What else do you want suggestions for? Does your kayak have a live bait tank? Squid, yakkas and slimies are well worth putting on live.
rods? gaffs? other stuff spots?

Any decent rod will do, depending on if you want to go jigging or simply fish the harbour. Obviously a jigging rod would fit its purpose best, short, strong with a decent reel that holds alot of power otherwise any rod with 8-12kg capacity will do, definately go braid which you already have and a decent leader around 30lb but that all depends on the day. Kings sometimes get really fussy, sometimes they will only touch on really light leader and other times you will just get smashed, regardless of what you have on.
Gaffs? dont worry about it, just use a net.
Spots in the harbour vary, all the markers are good spots along with the sydney ferry ones at the heads when they are up. The wedding cakes always produce but go for structure mainly, pilons etc. If you're heading out wide, obviously hit up the reefs, long reef, colours etc
Rig up a few rods, livies and strips of squid, pillies will get them occaisionally aswell. If you are using lures, definately throw out cotton cordell poppers and rig up some sluggos to throw at structure.
Berley also helps at times, get a tin of pilchards and tuna cat food, mix it with bread and water into a nice slush and throw out as often as you wish. I used to fish the wharfs at Walsh Bay and that berley always made a difference but Kings are so fussy its not always worth it.
There are tons in the Harbour and out wide, just fish structure and you will get one but remember to lock up your drag, they will bust you off right away if you dont put up a decent fight.
Good luck!
You'll want a rod that is long enough to reach around the bow of the yak, and a gaff is far better on a yak than a net is.
I've found this method of berleying works well.

spot in botany bay would be more convinient
I wish I could help you there, but I don't fish Botany.
Neither do i, i know that you cant go anywhere near the Petrol/Oil tanker thingo's any structure/holes are good. I fished once close to the rocks at the runway and found it decent with live bait but then again there was a floating marker there. I used to fish land based off the end of the rocky pier just before you enter the river where the bridge is? the freeway runs over it. Sorry im pretty horrible with directions out that way as i never really fish there.
you mean gorges river or the other one
how do you rig live squid-under a float?

Nah no float necessary, go out and get some owner cire hooks, 5/0 is what i usually use, rig the livies on the back, im sure there is a video on youtube for yakkas and squid.
Drop them down unweighted near the structure, only a cpl metres or so from the surface and set the drag.

take a look, i've used it for years, never had an issue
There are loads of other knots etc but you're not going out for Marlin, this will suffice for kingies
