I just joined to find out about squid jigging in California (not the giant, humboldt, or Jumbo type, but the delicate calamari type). Since I am new here, I thought I'd introduce myself.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and have been fishing all my life. I've had to teach myself ocean fishing, because my dad was a river and stream trout fisherman. Personally, I prefer the ocean, but don't get me wrong, I wouldn't turn my nose up at a 2Lb German Brown any day!

Anyway, I was in Spain a while back, and they were jigging from piers and stuff off the north coast near Bilbao, and getting pretty good results. They make some great dishes with squid over there, let me tell you! A buddy from Spain came over here to live, so we got to talking about squidding. I'm trying to see if anyone gets them in the Bay Area, and find out when/where to go. I was thinking about anywhere between Monterrey Bay and Humboldt County, but the closer to SF the better. I just have no idea, and decided to start my search here.

Anyone want to help a newbie figure this out?

Thanks in advance!
