Got 30 squid in 2.5 hours at canal, last night. Strange, someone had a green led light around the corner from me. It seemed to draw every jelly fish for miles. He was catching a few squid here and there way deep under his light. I had my coleman North Star and SCHOOLS were swimming up to it. I think the squid might not like the jellyfish. Anyway still plenty of squid around.
Now that report I believe. Might have to make a trip.
Great to hear. Gonna be there in 2 days!
Just got here after 32 hours of traveling.
Â
Any suggestions on where to try on the Canal? Havent been in years.
Â
thanks
Freezer rd parking lot. Walk to the right. Fish right off the bulkhead.
Well, I tried off of Freezer Road tonight but did not see any squid.
Â
There were a few other guys there but dont think they got anything while I was there from 9:30 until 11:30pm.
Â
I'll try again soon enough.
Â
thanks!
Did you use a light? You need one there since they changed the streetlights over.

I'm going tomorrow again I'll let you guys know how I did. Also I fish off the side closest to the marina. For some reason a lot of guys down there insist on fishing the other side. I've never had any luck on that side.
Anthony, shoot me a PM if you dont mind.Â
I'd like to tag along if thats ok.
Â
Beer on me?
Â
thanks
The more the merrier I'll be there tonight, should get there around
8-9pm hopefully the traffic wont be to bad as the beech season ends.
Hi folks,
Â
Long time lurker here
finally decided to post... I'm at the cape for a week... hopefully I'll see some of you guys there... I'll be the one with the brown bucket with a white lid...
Â
Slack is at around 11pm tonight right?. does it matter to the squid if the canal current is running or not?
Â
Janz, I read about your fishing lights and bought one... Problem is, I didn't get a battery yet - heh... gotta go get one today and charge it...
See you there. I'll be thre around 8-9. High tide is around 12. Best fishing is slack tide after high orb around 1-2AM. A lot if people don't like full moon but I've always had good luck. I have different theory than most. I think more squid are stirred up with all the fish activity, also I think are swimming up to the moon. Than they see our lights and get confused and stay at top if the water colum for longer.
From my limited experience so far it looks to me like
"the guy with most light wins".
Seems the squid have left the canal.........
Janz! Anthony! Good to meet you guys
Too bad the squid didn't show up for the party...Â
The big guy you pointed out to me who always catches, well on my out I ran into him,
he actually had one squid. So I did get to see just one Friday night. Even he said
this isn't right.
Going out there tonight.
Â
Anybody else gonna be around?Â
