Is it OK to eat squid tentacles?

I think they are a bit sticky.

Is it true they have hooks in their sucker feet?

Thanks again,

Nick

I love the tentacals but the squid we catch in the Pacific are not that huge. We do have "giant" squid that wash up on shore every now and again (about 35lbs). An important part of the process is making sure the squid is not overcook.

Hi

Nick

It is ok to eat the tenticles suckers and all they go crisp when you fry them

and In my book is the most tender part

I can remeber my dad and I fighting over the tenticles many a time after a big calamari fry up <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

OK this is great. So I can eat the whole squid except the quill and stomach and the beak!

Great. Thankyou again <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

One more tip here,

Make sure you cut off the suckers (from the tenticle) when you fry them. Simply with a pair of scissors.

They tend to fill with oild and explode make a mess and burns too.
My son loves the wings after they have been well cleaned and the tough flap has been removed. He reckons they are fabulous in curries, stir fries and salads. Big Grin

I'm the old fashioned type. Give me crumbed rings and lots of sweet chilli sauce. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

My tentacles (and heads) go to the local shark fisherman as well as my bait box.

Squid ink is used in recipies, but you would have to be on some sort of drugs to drink it!! Big Grin

I always eat the wings, but never the tentacles - did eat them at someone elses house, suckers and all - but i donate the heads as crab bait, and mulloway/snapper bait now..........
