hi all. i live in rockingham western australia. i go squiding at a local jettie that has lights. its shawlow enough to see the bottom and all the squid. there are heaps of squid but somtimes when there are alot of bait fish they will not take ANY jigs but you can see them eating the bait fish. now what i am thinking is that i get onje of my STORM soft plastics (that looks the same as the bait fish) and put one of those barb things through it. I think it would work but how can i get one of those barb things. i have one that you put a fish on but thats way to big as all the squid are small and only take the smallest jigs.

does anyone now of a company that makes soft plastics jigs or how i can make one
hi mish,

i have had the same question.

you can buy smaller squid hooks from companies overseas. if you can read japanese it may help!

it may be easier to just buy a cheap small jig and dismantle it and take out the hooks!

you can also make your own squid hooks. You need to buy some barbless hooks (e.g. fly tying hooks) and tie them to a thin steel rod with strong thread. Then covering the threading with epoxy glue. I have tried this. look at the photo gallery for a sample squid jig (with hooks) i made myself.

good luck,
