im preety sure we have all experienced snaging one of our beloved jigs. And it always happens to your favourite/most expensive ones.

This can be veryanoying especially if its your last one and there are still squid to catch.

well what do you do? i have found that you need to put on full tension wind in until its really tight and walk backward untill it gets free. Most of the time i free them but its really important to tie your jigs on well other wise they will come in without a jig.

Does anyone else have any special tecniques (speeling) that they find effective.
Tip #1 Use stong line > 30lb

Tip #2 Tension line then release, repeat.

Tip #3

Learnt from an old European pro .

You get a steel pipe diameter > the size of your rod and reel. Tie a stong sting to it and feed it around the rod n reel so in effect the steel then slides down your fishing line and down to the snagged jig. Then presto yank the string till your jig is free..

I've seen this technique use on a squid pole, where there is no reel.

The reason to use steel is because of the weight, PVC pipe might not work as well, perhaps u can add some weight to it??
