Try using small jigs at times when the tide is high at sunset / sunrise just suspend the jig and watch it ,if you do no good try another place

Hi Kf, do let the jig hit the bottom, do i slowly retrieve it or do i give a flick now then.

Hi everyone,
I had a couple of spare hours up my sleeve this arvo, so i decided to head down to
Larpa and try and get me a squid or two for lunch 2moro.
It was pretty dead at 1st but as i worked my way around the shoreline, I found a very
squidy looking spot, well in 10 or so cast my Yamashita 2.0 jig managed to pull in these
5 beauties before it all went dead again.
cheers

Caught an inker this afternoon. The wind was fresh and blowing strongly from the south. I was fishing off the Bare Island bridge casting out toward the direction of the heads ( using the wind to my advantage). I landed a nice specimen about 35cm in length. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':zorro:' />

Had a session on the Bare island bridge, all was quiet with a nor' easter blowing in the afternoon. As soon as the wind backed off a three squid were caught at sundown with good size to all of them. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

G'day all
just got bitten by the land based squidding bug and have a few questions.
do jigs work at night and does color of jig matter?
how often do you need to re-apply egimax spray?
does taking your own light to a dark jetty improve the results ?

Ive never heard of anyone trolling for squid. I think it could be a touch too fast for productive squidding.
Ive caught squid of the rocks at Malabar before, but that was a while ago. Im sure it still produces though.
Try just before dusk and through to a couple of hours after. This is normally the most productive time of day/night.

Hey there! Welcome to squidfish.
Hope you are catching a few. If you are going to troll i suggest you go very slow. Maybe drifting would be better.

Hello Fellow Squidders,
Â
I am a newbie to squidding. I started to take a keen interest in squidding when i started doing some research on kayak fishing. I plan on getting a kayak however just waiting to get some funds to pull the trigger.
Â
Anyway i went out to La Perouse on Saturday and caught my first squid and was very excited. Went out again on Sunday and didn't catch a thing.
Â
Just want to check who out there is catching anything in the bay and what times and where abouts are you trying.
Â
I basically tried a bunch of places from Bare Island and walked west towards the boatshed and tried a bunch of different places at about 1pm - 4pm which was on the high tide but don't think i managed to get a strike on Sunday, so was thinking my Saturday catch was a bit of luck.
Anyway interested in some input from you more experienced guys!!!
Â
Cheers,
Q
