Hello,

i am looking to go to beaumaris pier tonight, fishing high tide at 8ish.

I have never fished there for squid, do you recomend a side of the pier? i was planning on having a whitting under a float and be casting a 2.5 around.

Even better join me for a fish....

Thankyou
near the end casting towards 10 o clock and 2 o clock, might be hard because of the wind. i'll be there in the morning unless it's blowing a angry south wester.

Having only caught squid there once, i'm no expert, but thats what i did today, all 4 squid today came off casting towards the channel marker on the right. and letting it sink right down.
Went down there last night...

got one tiny squid near the base of the pier..

There was about 10 people fishing, only one was mine plus another guy got a good size pinkie.

Saw a HUGE stingray and a few rats.....

I think morning is best time. Have you been fishing change of tide or any time?

How did you go this morning?

Mase
caught 4 this morning two were live bait size and two were 20cm tube, i let the first baby go as a offering to the squid god.

Someone else caught one about 20cm as well.

Morning high tide is the key down there i reckon, failing that any high tide, all my squid have been caught in the first 10-12 meters of retrieve

I'm convinced if the wind is to high they stick to the deeper water off the end of the pier,

Todays jig was a Pink Yo-Zuri Flash Dancer #3 all caught in it, nothing special retrieve wise, just kept it dancing.

yeah that stingray is there everyday.

If you see a guy down there with a black backpack and a white bucket, usually in tradie pants and wearing a buff. It's me. I wont be back till thursday when the wind shift back to northerly, till then i'll be avoiding the place because of the southwesterly and the night time fishermen.

I did see more ink on the pier this morning than was there when i left yesterday. so someone has been catching them.

I might go down there for a walk tonight, see whats doing... girlfriend is going out so i might bring a cuppa down and scope the night action.
Hello,

yes last night there was alot of ink...

most of the guys there did not talk much but when i was there did not catch a thing.....

i wont be down there until next weekend, im thinking saturday morning....

if your going to fish during week at night i can pop down but not in mornings....

thankyou
yeah i noticed the snapper fishermen get a bit stand offish around there, and they take up half the damn pier between 2 of them.

There is one bloke down there i've talked too the last two mornings, nice guy, has a heap of jigs, Egi rod, Egi spray... still out fished him two days in a rowSmile

I will more than likely head down at some point this week as i'm off work at the moment, so i can do both morning and night. Saturday i might be working but if not i will be there for sure.
Hello,

Did you pop down there last night for a look?

How was the wind?

Mason
i went down at midnight and fished until lowtide at 2am, the wind was very light, but no squid.

It's blowing it's ring off now

Edit: i just ordered 5 jigs and flashing light that i can drop off the edge of the pier to the bottom from plat.co.jp. Hoping the light will bring them in should be good for late night high tides when no one is there.
How cheap is that site?

that light sounds like a great idea? where is it on the site?

from what people have said morning, just as sun is coming up is the time ot catch the squid....
they are getting them down at mornington pier and the rocks at Mt martha night and morning.

works out to about $12 something for a yamishita #3 jig, its cheaper than here. Still can't find an online shop with Breaden jigs though.

Hey,

Yea i heared that, but i must say even if one squid is caught everyone seems to be like they are there.

I was thinking about this light...

Rays outdoors has a store wide sale coming up.

selected stores carry yamishita.

do you ever use a 2.5?
Yeah i use ##2 #2.5 #3 i've only got 9 jigs not including the new 4 coming. few naturals, mostly pink or orange.

Haven't caught a single squid on a natural coloured jig, ever. including the blue ones.

my fav jigs at the moment are #3, and one of them is a yamashita.

That light looks the goods... i loved the idea of the green flashing light though, small to carry and cheap if i lose it.
Hey,

I just ordered some jigs and that light, i am curious on how long it will take to arrive.

Would it be easyer if we emails.

at my holiday house i have got most on silver, brown and fresh whiting, they dont seem to like the bright yellows ect

If so i masonnicola428@hotmail.com

thankyou
it would be good to hear about your experiences with that shop. please keep us posted! cheers, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />
on a slighty different topic, have you guys noticed how bad the toadfish are at Brighton, Mornington, St Kilda and Black Rock?

I was down at Brighton the other night around 2am just to check out the ink stains, and see if anyone was snapper fishing and there were toadies every square meter of the pier and breakwall.

Same at black rock the other night.
that site seems great, i am still waiitng for total invoice so i can pay via paypal.

great products and great prices.

TOADFISH..........

saturday night... everywhere.............. i recon if you had a shot gun and blasted a few shots off that a few hundred would have floated to the top......
Hello,

How is the wind going?

I have heared that flinders is producing good numbers at size atm.

Im hoping saturday morning will be good to give beaumaris a go!!!!!!!!!

Mason
yeah the winds alright at the moment, kinda southerly going northerly from friday morning till sunday morning... but low tide is just after sunrise. We'll see if it makes it or breaks it.

I was going to go down first thing this morning, but i turned the alarm off and went back to sleep.
