Full Version: Egi means "Wooden Lure"

Hi all,

I often see the word "egi" appear on japanese squid fishing sites and never knew what it meant. I stumbled across the following site which says that egi means "wooden lure".

I am guessing that yozuri or yo-zuri squid jigs are not wood anymore. Has anyone ripped a Yo-Zuri apart lately to see if it is wood underneath?

Hi Glen, pulled one apart recently and it was glow plastic ,the whole thing.

left it that way, new swivel and pins and she is now my night jig.

Regards John.

Ah cool. So the whole thing must glow like a christmas tree!
