Anthony I think those squid come from offshore and have not moved inshore yet
because they don't know what the temp is there, they only know the temp where
they are. The smaller inshore squid probably wont hatch until temp hits 50+
Remember all the eggs posted in picture.Â
Bill G I hope your right.
I'll stop reporting here because as soon as i report nothing but trouble.
Too many boat showing up squid fishing right next to dock and other guy casting over me got tangled their line cut my line.
I guess enough to say.
Were those folks from this forum? Bruce I don't think anyone here was responsible
for your troubled fishing trip. Besides you haven't posted anything in a while. But
I'll bet you'll come here and read what we post.
I belong to more than one squid fishing group and unfortunately everyone is getting antsy. No excuse for crowding other fisherman and casting your line in such a way as to ask for, or make trouble. Everyone is scouting the web for updates, but fewer and fewer fisherman will reveal their secret spots for fear of overcrowding and a lack of common sense and decency. Two years ago I reported that the squid were running good in Beverly, big mistake, it got overcrowded and the marina shut down our access to their piers. That was too bad, because all it takes is the inconsiderate behavior of a few to ruin it for the rest of us.

OK, no more pontificating from me, nuff said.
Last I checked, the purpose of this forum is to share our knowledge and skills of squid fishing.
Too bad that you guys felt that way.
I Been fishing for over thirty years and I always shared places that I know.
Some places get very crowded and I stop going, but I don't stop sharing.
So what is the purpose of this forum if every one stop sharing?
Any way, both of my boats are working this year. We went to Hyannis today caught a few squid. Too many squid's trawler boat out there, five in total, they decimated the area. They trawled very close to shore!
Peace
Janz I'm talking about last year.
My bad to what I stated but every time I report something that's what happen to me.
I've got generator with 2lights and I love to share my light and spot but some greedy people don't care what they doing makes me greedy like those people.
Bottom line is "please do not casting over me, don't kicking my gear or steeling my jig and respect other space"
Well sorry to say this but this is what happen to me and I can't share good info with dose greedy people.
Oh by the way. I'll develop my own spot. Nobody will be there because I'm gonna build private dock at my friend's house.
I'm new to this forum and new to the squid fishing. This is my second year doing it and i appreciate the veteran people teach me how to tie the knots and what jig to use. I think this forum is great, and you don't have to shared your location but you can share your experience and let fellow fisherman know when the squid arrived. This forum save me money on gas, instead of keep trying to find out myself every few nights driving 2 hours. I found out using Portable Jump starter battery at sears and LED Flood light at home depot will last you all night and much more quieter squid fishing experience.
Bruce I always enjoyed your posts and I just love the fish chix batter. Get it 5lbs at a time.
If it wasn't for your post about it I would have never enjoyed the best batter I ever had.
I found if you surround yourself with "friends" like from this forum I found them very respectable
and fun, also keeps unknowns from crowding in. Would love to spend a night squidding with
you.
Newport temp 46 and going up again, I hope to 50 so there will be some hope.

I'm glad that you enjoyed that better.
Yea. I'm kind of over whelming mixed feeling about other greedy fisherman and yes there is still good people out there.
I will try to laid low.
I have squidded Newport, Galilee, and Fort Wetherill. Never been to Fort Getty.
Has anyone squidded Fort Getty?

I did last week and no sign of squid yet.
Newport water temp at 45.1 is almost 3 deegrees below average for the end of April. Need some warm sunny days. No schoolies yet either!
44.6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edgartown harbormaster reports no ink on the docks there yet, no squids seen in Menemsha yet either.
Hello fellow fishmerman. I have been fresh water fishing for years & have expanded into saltwater fishing for the past few years. I have never been squidfishing before & this year will be my 1st year. I can certainly understand the conflict in fishing when it come to sharing information. Thier will always be those that have complete disregard for others while fishing. I have dealt with it myself plenty of times. But I find that these types are few and they generaly dont know how to fish, they give up easily leaving it open to those who are dedicated & willing to put thier time into it.
On a positive note I have met some of the nicest people while fishing & I have fished besides strangers only to become the best of friends after a few short hours. They have shared tackle, bait, tips and knowledge with me & I have done likewise for them. I was instantly drawn to this community as it is not like any other. I have been able to learn a great deal about squidfshing in such a short time without spending a fortune or time searching through fishing websites that seem to hold back information.
I hope that you will contiune to help new ones like me. Dont let the few bad eggs spoil it for you. We all share this special bond when it comes to fishing.

Lol I went again tonight to 77. Once again I got 2! -_- both jumbo size so I can make some good instant noodles ....
45 degree water temp in Newport. There is warmer water just to the south. It will start to rise to where we need it with the sw winds and warm sunny days forecast. A few being caught is how it usually starts. Hope this is a good year. Ready to go!
