Hi everyone. Just found this site it's great. Excuse my questions but am a newby. Does anyone know what kind of squid fishing we would have in BC? Best time of Year? Shallow waters or deep, does it matter? Never done it but sounds fun. Thanks. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ca.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />
Hi Chris, was just chatting with a guy the other day from BC. He said LOTS of squid there, although he wasn't sure exactly when or where when I was talking to him.
He used to be a logger and they would stay on barges and a few of the guys would set out spotlights off the sides of the barge and really clean up on them.
I would assume BC would be similar time to Washington, they should be hitting our coastal areas about right now, so I would assume that your area would be prime time right now.
I would suggest finding a pier to fish from at night that is lighted, and use luminous squid jigs. Best tides generally are on an incoming tide towards mid to high tide. I often do best at slack tide on the high.
Would be interested to hear how you do...
