Got back from Beverly Pier in the morning. I didn't spend too much time, but I didn't get anything. Didn't get any flounder either, although the guy next to me got one and a beautiful tautog on some sea worms. I had to head back to Boston, but headed back out to Nut Island on the outgoing tide... again, didn't catch anything but some squid ink on the pier. Someone was catching stuff recently.Â
The squid bite died in RI for now. Was going to go tonight but they cancelled the trip
on the frances fleet because it was so slow last night and Fri night. But also noted
they just motor out to Nebraska shoals and sit there all night. They do not go looking for
squid. If the squid are there they catch if not might as well go in cabin and take a nap
until its time to go home. So that does not mean the squid arent close to shore or
somewhere in the bays and harbors.  Got the itch to go again, was hoping to hear some
good news from the north shore so I can head up there and fish with friends. Maybe
the cape?

Hi Janz, there is an occasional squid caught up here but it's been really slow.  I managed 7 during a 6 hour trip last night. It may be slow but it's nice to be out there catching something. I'll be back this evening.

They're still in Newport Harbor. If you have a small boat and a fish finder, you should be able to manage a good haul.
Got a report from a guy fishing at nut island... he stayed til 3am and caught 7. Sounds like it's still slow...Â
Thanks guys, heard Provincetown has em, way to long a ride for me.
No small boat yet. Looking.
Where is every one and how is the ink flowing????
Hoping you were going to post something positive
It's been uneventful up here on the North Shore, I haven't seen a squid caught in a while. I've been on the search for flounders with some success though as well as some schoolie stripers, though I can't get my hook into a keeper yet. I'll give it a shot this evening once the sun gets a bit lower. I hope the squid pick up at some point here because it's been downright dismal.Â
I was in Salem Willow on Monday night and only caught 1 lonely squid for 1.5 hrs. Saw a few squid swimming around but no school. I also try the Beverly Pier no squid, tons of herring and striper around.
Thanks for the update, been busy chasing sea bass.
Hey everyone ! New to the forum but not new to squiddin. Has anyone been out the last couple of nights? I'm thinking about scouting some areas tonight and see if i have any luck. Will keep you guys updated!
anyone heading out tonight?
Squids are around but small in numbers and wasnt interested in my jigs around Salem and Marblehead
Thanks for the update, hope it gets better
Going out to the Beverly pier tonight. Catch a few inkers last month but not much action in Beverly lately. Hopefully those little inkers will find my jig tonight.Â
Just got the official word of more then 100 inkers caught in Nahant on the pier on that no named street..lol Nothing of any great size but enough to keep you busy for a few hours. This was confirmed by my friend by giving me 25 smaller ones for bait. They are getting close
It's been slow up this way. I see 1 or 2 get caught on occasion but I don't see anybody getting any numbers. I've just been biding my time catching flounder and waiting for them to show up. I actually caught my smallest ever the other evening, I bet the thing would have a tough time reaching the 2" line on the ruler. It was ridiculous.Â
If I see anything change I'll let you know. Good luck out there.
Thanks Scott, there seems to be some reports of large numbers in the New Hampshire
areas.
