I'm looking into some new squid jig designs, would like to get some feedback from interested squidders.
I got three photo sets of different styles.
For each set A, B, C
1. What is your favorite ones??
2. What size from nose to end of hooks would you prefer??
3. Do you prefer the larger size hooks, or smaller size hooks??
4. How much would you normally be willing to pay for the jig??
Appreciate the help
Jon

Set C
Hi Jon
These are some different looking jigs to what is currently available in OZ, good to see the variety that's out there!
For all the jigs I would prefer 2-2.5 inches from nose to hooks, and larger rather than smaller hooks.
Set A all look good, particularly the right hand column in pink and blue, and middle column in pink, orange and green.
Set B I like #2 and #3
Set C I like the three smaller jigs in the middle.
I would pay $8-10 for a jig, but I'd also like to know if they are good catchers before forking out my hard earned.....I have many jigs in my box that have never caught squid, despite much effort. Do any of the jigs have a 'reputation'?
Jon they all look pretty good but make sure the little jigs have standard sized(ie not small) spikes cos I hate the tiny barbs that come with the lil YoZuri.
For A:
1. All look interesting, but prefer the first lot
2. Size - probably 2.5-3.5
3. Larger definitely
4. $5-$10
For B:
1. Dont really like that style at all, but 002 and 003 would be the best
2. Size - probably 2.5-3.5
3. Larger definitely
4. $5-$10
For C:
1. Last ones are favourites!! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />
2. Size - probably 2.5-3.5
3. Larger definitely
4. $5-$10
Good Luck Jon!
Cheers!
Nathan
OK....
So what I have heard so far, the first set A are definitely a GO. Yes, they are weighted. Can't argue with you Glen, I wouldn't want to use non-weighted jigs either.
Set A Pink, Orange, and Blue seem to be the preferred??? I am maybe thinking 5 colors. Votes for the top 5 colors???
Set B Doesn't appear to be very popular????
Set C Smaller size with LARGE hooks???? Same HOT colors???? Pink, Orange, Blue, ?? , ??
Set C The last three, are a favorite of mine too. DEFINITELY larger hooks though!!!!
Set A There are TWO styles, any favorites??? Or BOTH good???
SIZE
MOST popular size 2.5" or about 65mm??? with LARGE hooks???
COLOR
You think colors as shown are GOOD, or brighter or different colors better??
THANKS a bunch for the input....
Jon
The jig that gets my no1 vote is Set C number 7 assuming its fitted with decent sized barbs without compromising action.
i'm a fishing enthusiast and squid fishing is one of my fav...
set A seem ok (the ones on the left and the middle)
Set c also good especially the small ones
In malta we use jigs from 2.5 to 3.5 inches...
and the best we've found have the lead hidden inside the jig and not quick divers.
they should only go down around 1-2 feet under the surface because we fish for squid by casting such lures... i believe that alot of colours on the jig don't attract. the best are those with a coloured back and a white (glow in the dark) belly... Best colours are pink/orange and green... i've had very positive results with these type of jigs 9 most of which are yo-zuri.
hope this will be of help
good luck

I prefer SET A and in particular the middle column. I would pay around 5 euros for them.
