What do you think works better? A squid jig with the relflective pearl belly or the glow in the dark lumious ones?

Are they made for different conditions? It makes sense that the pearl belly would be used during daylight and lumious ones at night.

I found that the white coloured luminous belly jigs works well for me - even in daylight hours.

Which ones do you find most effective?

Haha, I usually find the opposite! I have been a fan of those reflective belly jigs for ages, but I think the key is to find a jig which catches for you, and to use it with confidence. I must say though the biggest squid I've caught on an artificial jig was on a luminous belly one.

Jaz
I would agree with you Jazz, but after my trip to mornington yesterday, my views changed completely.

All squid i caught was with a luminous belly jig, including some agressive big squid which just took my jig and tried to run away with it. After i lost my only two luminous ones (see mornington report <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />) I didn't catch any more squid with the reflective belly.

It was a shame. My best jigs which i cannot replace (as they are from overseas) gone. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cry' />

Gee that's bad luck. Especially since those jigs were lost through no fault of your own. Hopefully you can find some similar jigs in Australia.

Best of luck

Jaz
Sounds to me that Luminous AND Reflective is the way to go!!! Hmmmmm... I wonder where you could get jigs like that???

You may be on to something there Jon <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> . Is it even possible to make that combination?

Hello Chick3n:

The combination you speak of is being made by our company. We manufacture squid jigs that utilize both glow and reflective properties. We can even make a squid jig specific to your needs.

It sounds like the squid were keying in a specific bait that day. I've encountered teh same problem but usually it is the jig color that I change. You just need to stick with it. Good squid anglers can catch squid with almost any squid jig <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cry' />

Happy Squid Fishing!!!
