Hey fellow fishermen, nice to see an internet forum on squid fishing. Just wondering if anyone knows any status over at Greenport, NY... Last year I went on May 7th, which was later than usual, and caught over 200 with my pop in one night. The water tempreture then was 43 degrees. I heard squid comes out around 50 degrees. Any how, I can't believe that squid hasen't come out yet in Newport b/c squid there is usually out a month before Greenport, and as i said, I went last year in early May and that was late. Well, Keep up the good work with these posts.
They have been there since last Wednesday (April 27th) and are expected to stay until about May 9th or so.
I read on another forum that the rail road dock this time of the year is excellent for squid fishing.

Best of luck, Glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':au:' />

thankyou Glen .well we caught about 70 pounds the bite was really kinda slow ...the left side of pier was slim pickins, but once we got a spot on the right side of the the slaughter was on...smaller pink jiggs worked best.......with a 6 inche leader a high/low setup. and about a 2 ounce sinker. I hope to get out there this weekend again.........went home witk ink all over.gotta love it (:~~~~<
