Hi Guys,
My first post on this forum, I've been reading on for many years now and found lots of helpful advice & info, since then I have become quiet addicted to squid/egi fishing since they've really been hot up through to the northern parts of port phillip bay, so I think its about time to purchase an outfit specifically for it!
First of all I plan to be fishing land based, off both rocks & piers so looking for something with a bit of length, I'd say minimum 8'3" but something thats going tobe allround, I currently use a 10'6" med-light rod which is a bit too long.
My maximum spend would be about $250 AUD for the rod and also $250 AUD for the reel, I am mainly looking for JDM (japanese) gear, but also open to localrecommendations
Rods shortlisted (that I can find online at a decent price):
Megabass Caiyen XX - CXX-86L - EGI Size: 2.5-4.0 - Line: 0.5-1.0 (P.E) - Rod Weight: 132g - http://www.megabass.co.jp/site/products/cxx-86l/
Megabass Caiyen XX - CXX-83M - EGI Size: 2.5-4.5 - Line: 0.6-1.2 (P.E) - Rod Weight: 123g - http://www.megabass.co.jp/site/products/cxx-83m/
Graphiteleader Calmaretti Nuovo Quattro - http://www.olympic-co-ltd.jp/enfishing/i...ti-Quattro
GONCQS-832M-T - EGI Size: 2.0-3.5 - Line: 0.4-1.0 (P.E) - Rod Weight: 109g
GONCQS-862M-T - EGI Size: 2.0-3.5 - Line: 0.4-1.0 (P.E) - Rod Weight: 110g
GONCQS-892ML-T - EGI Size: 2.0-3.5 - Line: 0.4-1.0 (P.E) - Rod Weight: 112g
Reels:
Daiwa Luvias - LV 2506 - Weight: 205g - PE 0.8-130, 1-100 - Max Drag: 3kg - http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/luvias_reel/
Shimano Sephia CI4+ - C3000S (shallow spool) / C3000SDH (shallow spool, dual handle) - Weight: 190g - PE 0.6-200ã0.8-150ã1-110 - Max Drag: 9kg - http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/3053
Shimano Exsence CI4+ - C3000M (medium spool) - Weight: 195g - PE 0.8-300ã1-220ã1.2-150ã1.5-135 - Max Drag: 9kg - http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/3133
please note: (for those who are unaware) the C3000 models have a 2500 size body!
I was leaning towards the Luvias & the Megabass rod in the 8'6" length.
Really appreciate any advice guys, cheers!
