I was checked at the ramp in Wareham, great/courteous officers. The group ahead of me wasnt so lucky, not sure if the citation but they were still there after I loaded my boat and left.

Anyone of squidding? My friend is trying Edgartown Harbor tonight. Ill report back if I hear anything.

Stay safe.
Friend got a few buckets off Edgartown Harbor between 3 guys.
Was on the frances fleet last night and caught 3 dozen full moon current made things slow but at least I caught.

Congrats.  From their report online, you must have caught every squid on the boat.  Wink  They didn't sound like they were even trying to put lipstick on it.  Normally, if someone gets 3 dozen they highlight it and say high hooks got a few dozen.  lol.

At least they are showing up.  I'm going to try and sneak out next week if the wx cooperates.
Where it is can you show me the spot and address to that location?

Quote:Thanks for the report.
knguyen, Frances Fleet is  located in the port of Galilee in Narragansett, RI. You can google their contact information. They are party boats that take squid trips when the squid are around. I don't know the cost of a trip but you can ask them by phone.

Frances fleet trip is 65 dollars you can only book online and the trip is Wednesday Friday and Saturday 7pm to 1 am
Heading out with frances fleet on Wednesday will report after
Heading out to Frances Fleet this coming friday!

Any luck?
Caught 30 slow pick with bluefish chasing hard most of my catch was sight catching worked hard for what I got but with the bluefish in the season is over for me switching to fluke
Bluefish? Haven't seen a lot of those around the past few years.

The squiding off the beach will improve. The bluefish won't drive them off. At least that's my story. I have nothing else unfortunately; I still haven't dunked a line yet this year. Crazy times.
I’ve Been out of commission for the last few weeks so I haven’t been to GI in Newport lately. Are they still catching there?

How did you do last night
Do not go on the Francis boat. Caught barely 10 squid on friday night....squid are gone... We had one male passenger coughing like a dump truck for 6 hours, they should have thrown the guy off the boat as he also wasn't wearing a mask.

Screening is inexistant on this boat.

The problems with society are people and money.  That will never change.  But yes, the boat should have handed the guy a mask or told him they were heading in (t's about 15 mins each way).

But I really doubt the squid are "gone".  I've been fishing these beaches for a long time, and what you find in may and june is that you have good days and terrible days.  I've had great catches well into July.

But every year is different.  It's possible they have moved deeper or back out to sea, but history says they are just not always where you look for them.

That said, coughing jerk is a very good reason to either not fish on a head boat or call them and give them a piece of your mind.  If enough customers bring it up, they will change.
I love eating squid. A poor season means I end up buying from Seawell in Pawcautuck, CT. Its great because they get theirs right off a dayboat usually and offer uncleaned for a lower price. That said the price of loligo continues to go up and uncleaned has been $5.99lb. Thank you to everyone who put out a report this spring. I did go scupp fishing from the kayak yesterday and got skunked and the water still seemed a bit on the cold side so maybe the seasons not over yet. I may try one more time with this clear windless nights ahead.

Whos been hauling in squid? Lol. Been getting the itch go out and look for them.
Just spoke to Edgartown harbormaster, he said a friend was catching them pretty well in the daylight off Memorial Wharf this morning. He thinks it is slowing down there but they have been having a steady pick for a few weeks. Don't know if it's worth a boat run over there but some are still around.
