This is quite a random one.



I ate whole grilled squid in a restaurant in Croatia recently, and when I cut into it, there was what looked like a longish thin clear plastic bag inside.



When I asked the waiter he insisted it was something to do with the way it swims, some kind of bladder, but I am convinced it was something to do with freezing! It was delicious but I was somewhat put off.



I'm assuming I was right but as I don't know much about squid, can anyone help?

im no expert either, but if i were you i would google it and look at some anatomy pictures. maybe it might help you identify this bladder thing....



also, why would they leave it in when it was cooking if it was part of the gut? odd.
