Hi guys,
I just made some changes to the front page of the website:
http://www.squidfish.net
You can now see the latest topics in various categories of the forum (e.g. latest fishing reports)
Let me know if you think this works OK. I am open to suggestions and improvements (as always)
Cheers, Glen
I reckon it looks good Glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> Something I wouldn't mind seeing is a list of the recent post topics on the homepage - I understand though if you don't want this on the homepage so that people have to enter the forum to find that out.
i will make the change suggested by Jazman on the weekend.
cheers, mate. i really appreciate the feedback.
ok i had another go at the homepage. hopefully it is a bit easier to use now.
i also added a "statistics" section (see link on this page in the top right corner)
i also added a "subscribed topics" link at the top of the forum - for people who use this forum feature, it should prove to be a nice time saver. if you have not heard of topic subscriptions, you can try it out! you can automatically subscribe to topics in which you post by adjusting the following setting:
go to "my controls" then "Email Settings" and then tick the box next to "Enable 'Email Notification' by default?".
Enabling this option will automatically subscribe you to any topic you start or reply to.
cheers, glen
Hey Glen, you've done great job on the homepage, I reckon it looks tops and your new mods makes it really easy to keep track of the active topics. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> Well done! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
hi jazman, thanks for the feedback,
i added a couple more small changes.
i added a "top 5 recent posts" at the top of the forum...
...and i also added a link at the bottom of the page that says "This week's active topics" on the main index page in the forum....which hopefully will be helpful for people. you can test it here:

cheers, glen
