Just out of curiosity--what do you guys do with all that squid (people with full buckets and hundreds of squid)? Sell it to a market? Big family? or what? Just curious.
Can somebody post some simple, tasty squid recipies? Thanks in advance.

I have yet to catch a full bucket this season. But I mainly eat them, give them out to friends and family, and use them for bait. I was talking to this guy Tuesday and he said he sold a full bucket for $80 right there on the bridge.
Hi All,
Went to Jamestown last night around 10:00 and got about 30 in the first half hour. Then . . . nothing. Fished until midnight and saw a few more but they weren't interested in us at all! Still, its better than sitting in front of TV. Police came by the other night and asked that we all clean up after ourselves (shouldn't have had to ask). I took a stroll up and down the area when I was ready to leave and saw NO TRASH left behind. Maybe people are getting the hint? No matter, what I've always taught my kids was to take out more trash than they bring in. If everyone took that aproach we'd be welcome evrywhere we go. Good luck.

all you need is a light spinning rod/reel with 8-12 lbs test line, a few jigs and 1 oz sinkers. You can buy rod/reel and jigs from local bait shop or department stores. Buy Yozuri jigs because they work best. The jigs are not cheap, it may cost you $5-$8 per jig. Pink seems to work the best IMHO but other people will argue green or blue. Buy one each and see sometimes one color seems to work better than the others. And bring a couple just in case you lose the jig.

Check out Benny's. They have decent prices and carry the Yo-Zuri jigs that ahgigi mentioned. See you on the bridge. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/moped.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':moped:' />

Sorry Spawnie, we were there Wed night from 7 to 10 and we caught 16. How was your catch???????? SQUID ON.
Hi all you squid junkies. Did anyone catch last night? Was planning to bring the boat up from CT tonight but if the bite isn't on I'll wait. At 8 mpg for the truck I don't want to do it unless the bite has returned. Hope to see you up there. Snaildarter
Yeah, lets get a report. I'm considering going up on Saturday, also from CT...it is pricey though for no squid!
Thursday report from Goat:
Foggy early so not much of a bite from the bridge from 8:30-11:00. Sun strarted breaking through and the squid started biting (probably also had something to do with the tides). Bite was a steady pick until I left at 3:30, but there were some quick spurts with heavy action. Many doubles during the quick spurts. Three people = one 5 gallon bucket filled to the top (about 50 pounds).
Hi Battam, Were you on the bridge or in a boat? Were there lots of people? Was anyone else catching? Thanks for the report. Snaildarter

Hi All,
I am a longtime fisher and eater of calamari, but I've never tried fishing for Squid. I just joined this forum and my son and I are going fish today or tomorrow, it seems like our best chances would be in the Newport area?
Anyone fish yesterday, Friday, or this morning?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Squidheads
Went squiding this Friday night and saw some familiar faces.....but, not much squid. fished from 8pm to 1:30 am and only caught about a dozen. What happened? Most people agreed that the bite wasn't much better earlier in the day...a couple waves and that was about it. I must say every time I go down I meet nice new people. Trash pick-up has improved a bit from last week.....The city of Newport has helped by placing strategic dumpsters . It was funny I was fishing near one and a little girl ask me if it was my fishing bucket...I Laughed..lol....I wish I could fill it. Around 1pm two separate trucks unloading about 10 buckets full of freshly caught squid to the eager fisherman. It was a fast sell...all the buckets were sold within minutes. Not quit sure how much...At this point I think people wanted to just have some to bring home. This means the squid are somewhere just not at GI? I will try again next week hoping for better luck. I also want to hello to all my new friends, catch those squid. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':moped:' />

No, no, please don't. Don't support the giant, faceless, soul-less corporations. Get the Jibs at Edwards Tackle, Sam's Bait, or The Saltwater Edge all in the Newport Area.

Whoa, it is really bad that guys are selling squid; that is a slipperly slope to destruction of the fishery...
