Is it possible to catch squid from the shore in west Long Island/east Queens north shore?

Also, how's squidding like in eastern Long Island atm?

Tried for 5 hours from dawn in northeast Queens. Got nothing.

~6 other fishermen there didn't catch any fish (I believe), but they stayed longer.

It was very foggy early and overcast later in the day.

I was using cheap ebay jigs and sutte Yozuri jigs (used glowing green and pink mostly), should probably upgrade to Yamashita.

Also, planning on buying thin braid and fluoro (used ~14# mono and 20# fluoro leader.)

I might try again in the fall when it's cooler (it's 80F today).

Considering getting on a night time Captree bass boat in the summer.

There is a report that the squid are in at Greenport, Long Island. This location is the only spot I have heard of for getting squid on the island, but I suppose they could be caught at other locations and people just don't talk about it. I have never heard of them being caught in Queens, Brooklyn, or Manhattan. Also, if you're out squidding in the heat of the day you are most likely out at the wrong time. Most squid are caught at night and although there are times when they are caught in daylight it is not the norm.
