I've been lurking and posting for a little while but thought I should introduce myself.

I'm from New Zealand but I've been living in Nagoya, Japan for close to 10 years.

I mainly fish for mebaru (black rockfish) suzuki (Japanese Seabass) and Spanish Makeral. I also fish for Yellowtail but without much luck so far. I've been interested in egging, as its called here, for a while. I had a half-hearted attempt last autumn without much luck. Early this month I went out with a mate who has been egging and live-baiting for a long time. But still didn't catch anything... Anyway,I have caught the bug and will be having another go when the conditions are right and the conditions for my other fishing are wrong <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />
hi egi zed! it's great to have you aboard.

and it is particularly good to have new japan-based members as it seems japan is the world centre for squidding <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

maybe you can let us know when there are any new developments in gear or technique! that would be greatly appreciated.

cheers, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />
There is always new stuff coming out but who much is trully new remains to be seen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

Technique is also a tricky one. I have heard people talking about very specific jerk patterns. It all depends on where you are and the time of year it seems.

There seems to be a lot more variety of styles on here than I have seen over here.
