Good eating fish. But, a major pain to catch. (you tend to loose a lot of gear ). I know of a couple spots in Newport. They like to hug the rocks around a deep drop-off. I use crabs as bait.

I went to Ft. Adams sometimes for tog .. but haven't done this year yet.

Next time you go, powdercoat all your sinkers a BRIGHT yellow color. I GUARANTEE you catch more fish

Are you saying Tog are somehow attracted to a yellow color?

Lets just say any charter boat i've ever gone out on for Taugs, i've outfished EVERYONE, EVERYTIME. The key is the yellow powdercoating. I learned that from a crazy brazilian friend. We could never figure out why he always ALWAYS outfished us. Then he clued us in to his little secret. It really does work
fresh water fishing works well...but nothing compares to the fun of catching squid. freezing your butt off and hanging out with friends. the competition can't be beat...we'll sit there and try to catch them before they even end up in the bay!

How do you tie your jigs ? below the sinker or above ?
