i really like these, i'm going to start using them more often
Any word on GI squid fishing. Slow?, Steady?, HOT?
What are some hot spots for squid fishing near GI/ Jamestown?
I will be down @ GI this week. WIsh me luck
that's such ######. i would have lost it. god help the unfortunate person or people who literally take my 3 feet of space...

there needs to be some etiquette out there.

i don't know where all these people have come from this year but it's getting bad.
Truly it is, so rude we couldn't believe it. Only a total of 26 squid so far.

Squid On................

.
This past Saturday morning after leaving the house at 5am for striper with no luck. We got to GI around 8:30am, started fishing near the park. In 3 hours we caught 21 squids between 4 people. I only caught one of those 21 squids. My cousin caught the most he was using a smaller Yo-zuri jig and the rest of us was using the regular size yo-zuri. Also his jig was a lot more flasher, the rest of us had the clear body jigs. I guess that might be the reason he was catching more than us. Here is a picture of the jig he was using

My uncle came by around 1:30 and he had the same jig as my cousin, only differences the color. In 30 mins he already caught more than we did in 6 hrs. He got back home around 11:30pm with half a buck, over 160 squids.

Also made the trip again Monday, from 10am to 4pm. We only caught 10 squids and again I caught only one. Again my cousin caught the most 8 out of the 10 squids. We bought a cheap $10 grill to grill up some burgers while fishing. We were eating good while the squid bite was really slow.

If anyone was there when we was, I guess people saw when my cousin bounced a basketball into the water. We had to borrow someone's bucket and rope to fish it out. When we finally got it out the water. People around the park was clapping and cheering, it was pretty funny. Best part of it the ball wasn't ours. He borrowed from a group of kids.

Well NOW I'm going to give up squid, since it's scup season.
i said i quit.. well.. i sneaked back.. 300+ squid myself.. slow/steady pick through the night.. until in the wee hours.. then broke lose for 2 hours after first light.. was like scup fishing!..

used them jigs from squidjigs.com guy he post.. surpriszingly it f*n worked =0 could not believe.. used his chit as a weight.. all the squid kept nailing it as it fluttered to bottom..

5 guys filled those 50 gallon drums? or 100 gallon drums? though big blues.. full..
caught 7 small females last night... all still had egg sacks in them... good sign that they still have not finished spawning yet
Good to hear people are still catching squid. As for me, currently enjoying a extremely productive Spring striper run. Upper bay is really starting to pickup. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> The squid is candy right now. Go get'em!.

-Tatonka-
Very picky lastnight...mostly small/med mixed with some bigger ones. I suspect

i totaled in the 20's...3hrs put in....break from squid for a couple days...back to stripahs...
anyone else notice that all the large females had no eggs over the weekend? Not a single one of ours had any eggs but that one poster said the little females he caught all had egg sacks.

Wondering where we're at w/ this run. I assumed that b/c none of mine had eggs and judging by their size they were females, that the run was in full swing/ nearing the winding down phase.
the group of 5 of us last night in 2 1/2 hours pulled 30... agreed with mr. brian, very picky. there was one strong bite of about 15 minutes while we were there. mostly small to med size as well. when i was cleaning some of these there were eggs inside a few.

not sure where we are in the seasons run, but i think we may be entering the final week or 2, could be slow pickings for the last week.

i do see the FF fishes for squid through mid to late june though.....

so i guess until there is more local documentation of the squid species its anyone guess until they're truly gone until next year
When does the season normally come to an end? I have heard different story, some say mid June.

May 27th at 9:19pm CST. You better hurry up and get out there Scuba Joe!

LOL usually its the end of may/beginning of June. The answers to most of your questions are right here in this thread. (i'd suggest starting w/ pg 1 <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' />

The season may end but some people continue squidding even after it end. That's when I go, when others are done.

I can see some logic to that. People get distracted quickly when fishing gets better; bass, fluke, scup, etc. They just stop targeting the squid.

But I've seen good concentrations of them throughout the summer. Not in any one spot, but every once in a while, you will run into them.

They are still there, just not swarming like they are now.
I landed 3 on the same rig, sure i've gotten the occasional 2 but 3 ( I only had 3 jigs)

how is snagging for everyone,

25% of my squid were snagged

Ass for comments on the squid season length...they are around a lot longer then most would expect. However, not at the "norm" spots... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':au:' />
