I definately saw your boat last night. My brother and I were remarking about your light setup and how you might be visible from space <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> We did really well just before dark and it really slowed down after that. Some ppl did better than others but we kept wishing we could've switched places with you and been on your boat. Frances was PACKED last night to the point it was getting uncomfortable/frustrating. Were all your squid huge too?
Yeah, I'm trying to work out a lighting pattern for the canyons. Turns out it may have been spooking the squidies? Some times, ya just can't win. lol.......
We had to leave first time JOHNAT and I (SuzySquid) were upset a few people actually stepped in front of our chairs, couldn't belive it. We dont mind sharing the light but to stand in front of our chairs when we put a different jig on ?

We left at 11pm and the obnoxious ones actually ran.
that's such ######. i would have lost it. god help the unfortunate person or people who literally take my 3 feet of space...

there needs to be some etiquette out there.

i don't know where all these people have come from this year but it's getting bad.

on past canyon trips we used 2 floating halogens (one port, one starboard) and a submersible light about 15 feet or so down.

much cheaper than in hull lights. work just as good for my crew
and what's with the censorship on the boards here. the ###### which 'appeared' is supposed to be BS.

Quit the complaining man, love it or leave it! Another so so year of squidding <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
Mr Brian were you on the bridge?? JOHNAT and I (Suzy Squid)

Squid were picky had to use a small jig. We were the only ones with a geny and we had a hard time with people taking our space. We caught a whopeing 10 squid, mostly small.
Hi Suzy. No, we were elsewhere. Yea, I too had to use a smaller jig, which worked

surprisingly well for me...no weight, just casting out in darkness & reeling into the

light. Lots of sight fishing also...

That really sucks...youre coming from CT too....aint exactly a trip

to the corner store...But dont let the jerks get to you. Get even,

dont get mad. I know, easier said than done....but next time (hopefully

there wont be one), mess around with them. Hit the lights...and just stare

at em with a little grin....let em move...and once they move to another

spot, turn on the lights....repeat. eventually theyll get the msg....hopefully.

Then again, ive been known to have a short fuse at times and might just explode, what

do I know lol...

In the end, its "just squid" and just try to have fun out there. Thats what its all about right?

Try not to let the A-holes get the best of you.

Good luck!
Have there been any good runs of squid during the day yet?
Have there been any good runs of squid during the day yet?
Ive been out 3x during the day with no luck. But i know of a couple

who had a bucket during the day...then again this was 2wks ago. Later

morning to afternoon...

All of my luck, not most, has been in darkness.

Imo, i probably just suck at catching squid during the day lol.

Yea, im just more worried about zapping the genny/lights in the rain than anything else...

If its raining but catching, thats just fine with me.

probably see ya later...

your setup looks pretty heavy duty, should be able to take a bit of water.

my lights are similar. i'll be coming with the gf and a friend i believe so i'll bring my genny tonight, not my lanterns.

i'll be back where we meet last week

whatever pal, not gonna argue over a couple squid with you.

my year of squidding will be defined by the amount of fluke, tuna, and swords i boat on the 150+ pounds of squid i already have frozen.

Last night i took a trip with (Taxman25, Timbo, BassHole) on Francis Fleet. The beginning of the trip was the most productive catching the larger squid. Taxman was a steady contributor to taking down the larger squid. Timbo was down and out for most of the trip, due to a bad SubWay sandwich. All said and done we were able to fill 2 1/2 5 gallon buckets. Ill tell ya what, fishing with Fransis Fleet is the way to go if you want to catch the infamous SQUID

I did forget to mention the skill Mr. BASSHOLE has shown between landing 2 squid on the same jig, and not to mention the 210+ squid he took home that night!
i've spoken to a couple people regarding this and I think the smaller jigs, less weight and less light are the keys to success. I've noticed that ever since ppl starting bombarding the bridge with gene's, etc, that the catches have gotten less and less while the offshore(well technically inshore) bite has been much better. 4 yrs ago, it wasn't very common to see a genie on the bridge. The squidding was awesome. 3 yrs ago they started showing yet in smaller numbers. The season was great but not as good as the year previous. Last year gene's were everywhere and the fishing sucked from shore/GI bridge. This year...same thing (for the most part) Obviously some ppl do better than others but the past two years since more and more lights showed along w/ more and more ppl, the reports have gotten worse and worse....cept by boat

Not sure it's pure coincidence but I really think there's something to this. I think less light may be the ticket. I had my best luck w/ less weight, light line, small jigs and less light. Anyone else having a similar experience this year?

Basically no more than 10/12lb mono, no more than than 0.5-1oz weight (when permissable) if any weight at all and smaller jigs 3" or less. A couple of my buddies have done very well w/ these little tiny jigs w/ little or no weight...not sure who makes them but i'll try to find out.

I wish I didn't live in CT b/c i'd really love to get up there for more squid. Newport = 2hrs+ away from me <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

WTF that's the 2nd person I've read about on the FF that supposedly ate bad Scrubway sammiches and wound up laid up for half the night.

I suspect somebody just got sea sick from anchoring up <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
I think the run is winding down!! Not over..... just slowing
