we ran it off a car battery. the temp of the bulbs were 6,000k , we wouldve used a headlight from a car that had projectors to give it that nice clean cut off but didn't have any spare. So we just used a headlight from a 96 eclipse. This is just a testing of just to see if it works and how long it lasted . So far so good, were gona building sometings that has like clear tubing with the bulb inside so we can submerge it in the water, the HIDs are already water proof.
You're not having any problems with the glass breaking when submerged in water from the temp change? I know people have that happen with trailer bulbs so I'm surprised it doesn't happen with those.

can we pick them up at the causeway? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> that would be very convenient. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />
I would need a rough idea of how many to order. As you can see, the more ordered the cheaper they are.

I'd be glad to bring them down to G.I.
ive got a feeling tonight will be booming with people..hopefully squid too...last post

til I get back...or tomorrow. Good luck out there everyone.

Fluke, great squid minds think alike, what can I say lol.

no live reports...... they must be bailing squid!!!!!
I think it's going to be another week before they really come in!
Went there today for this first time this season from 3pm till 6pm. I went with my cousin we only caught 9 altogether, but lost about 6 pulling them up. We were by the hotel area, It was just us till some people saw us catching. Going to try again Sat. in the morning after the rain.

I saw a hole mess of bait fish by the basketball court area. Also seen some big fish chasing them, don't know if they were stripers, blues, or herring.
OK missed yesterday and have some catching upo to do.

MK Skler- I have the pink andsardine looking ones and they did not work for me. Not to say they are not worth trying but I did not have any luck with them.

The squid are in the area! I got outfished by alot last week. If I was the only boat under the bridge I would say they were not in but 10' away from us I watched a boat pull squid of all sizes in at a rate of 100/hr. That was for approx 4 hrs on an in coming tide. I hope this week will be better.

As far as lights go, I do not believe the bright the better. I feel it is the quanity of light and not the quality. I had 6 floating lights and feel the ASIAN's drew the squid to them with 4 brighter halogens that were just above the water. Just a perception so far.

I would be interested in buying 3 of the bumper stickers. I thing the would also make cool long sleeve shirts with GISS on the pocket, the sleeves covered with interlinked chain of squid and the banner on the back of the shirt!
Epic night of jigging... IE a whole lotta nothin <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> . Saw a whole lot of stripers swimming through the lights, and a bunch of herring were hitting some small treble hooks, but that was about it. Some people caught a few squid, but definitely not a good night by any stretch of the means. This was on an outgoing/low tide, so maybe the incoming will be better tomorrow.

Yep. Pretty much summed it up. I didnt see any bass though. Lost 2 on one of my smaller jigs while reeling up...

Before we called it a night, I spoke to one of my contacts...He started at 5am Fri....ended around 1130, PM...over 18hrs of jigging...about 20 squid or so..................nuff said.
Hey whats going on guys newbie to the site but, I have been keepin' up with all the squid talk, I just never took the time to register <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> ... Oh yeah one more thing has anyone tried out these new Yo-Zuri - Ika Minnow jigs yet ? If so how'd you do ?

MK Skyler, I've been playing around with the Ika Minnow jig for about a year now and was on a squid charter yesterday in Hyannis where I gave them a try as well. The caught well offshore when jigging for squid while tuna fishing. Inshore at Newport and yesterday in Hyannis they caught but not nearly as well as the small Yo-zuri pink and blue jig. Those outfished the minnow 10 to one.

The squid fleet was out in mass yesterday in Hyannis. There must have been between 30 and 40 boats. The squidding was good in about 17 feet of water with a couple of spurts that gave us nonstop action. One guy was putting Procure inshore jelly on his jigs and he was outfishing everyone. Pink was the hot color when the sun was out in the morning. When the sun disappeared in the afternoon, blue became the hot color. The Yozuris were definately the ticket. We had a private charter of 25 guys on the Helen H's Angler boat (What a great boat; clean, fast and quiet. The crew and captain were amazzing. We were supposed to be back at 2pm and he stayed out until 4:30 because the bite only got hot at around 2pm. Hoping that Newport heats up so I can bring my boat up there. Snaildarter
Has anyone caught any squid last night
Has anyone caught any squid last night
I caught 4 last night; one small, the rest were huge

the squid are definately biting just not in nubers

every so often we would see a school of squid swim into a school of fish, one time there was a mackerel-like fish, and anothere time there was a small shark

heading out again today

Was there this morning from 9am till 12pm and I got nothing. There was tons of bait fish from the rock wall all the way to the hotel. Anyone else think these bait fish are effecting the squids? Since the bigger fish are chasing the bait fish, the squid don't want to come out and play.
heard that they killing em over at helen h. anyone went on the frances fleet? they went out last nite and i am just wondering how they did
