Ok, times confirmed. 09:00 outside "The Tackle Box" at Brighton Marina - Opposite Mcdonald's. Fishing 10:00 until 15:00. Weigh in begins at the tackle box at 15:30.
If anybody is travelling a long way for this, I must admit it isnt looking like it will be the squid fest from last year. The water on the West (Short) arm is quite heavily coloured. The current pushes this colour along the structure, and then moves it out, past the end of the East. IT is highly likely this will be the only areas that will produce squid. IT is also highly likely that the water on the East will be coloured too much. REally dont know. I will scout the situation early in the morning and report back. The forecast is for the winds to increase all of next week, so postponement again isnt really possible. THe squid might well have left by the time we get the perfect conditions. However, the wind is swinging to WSW as we speak, and is forecast to keep moving to WNW or even NW. This could mean that the colour will siperse a lot on tonight and tomorrow mornings high tides, so it isnt all doom and gloom
Ok, we fished it. I think ten of us had a go, but with just one cuttle-fish caught, it was agreed to hang on to the trophies and re-run the ompetition. So the NEW date is now Saturday 16th May - Metting outside the "Tackle Box" at Brighton Marina at 13:00, fishing 14:00 until 19:00.

Hope to see you there!! and please pray, caress religious artifacts, whatever is neccesary to give me a break and let us have a clear calm sea on the day!!

I would also like to thank Matt from Oxfordshire, who agreed to the plan of not calling the day the squid comp, as he actually had every right to take the winners trophy. Instead he was happy to allow the competition to re-run. What a sporting gesture!!
I hope the squid will still be there in two weeks! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' /> I left earlier yesterday because I knew I wasn't going to catch anything, hope it's gonna be better next time <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

HI Pete,

Thanks for giving it a go. IF your coming back, make it known to George you were there before and there will be no entrance fee.

Fingers crossed for some clear calm seas!!
I had put my e-mail adress onto the list at the beginning by the tackle box so I think it's alright <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />
And the good news is..... The sea has cleared out a treat inshore. The forecast on XC has been a bit all over the place but it now looks as though Saturdays competition will be fished in near PERFECT conditions. Could well be the squidfest we have been holding out for!!
Fished Sydney Harbour today (and remember this is an off season) for 12 cuttles and 8 squid the biggest was 2lb and as I had no net he fell off on lifting......

Perhaps you need a new location LOL

Nice one Vic...... Unlike the latest forecast for the weekend. XCweather are now giving F5-7 SW for Saturday. Looking highly likely this event will be postponed.... until 2010...... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Bugger! Can always hope that things change in the meantime (not much good for those who have travel any distance though). I thought about having a bash tomorrow but just realised other plans have been made <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> May try for tomorrow evening instead and have a go for the Bream on the West arm.
<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> Cuttlefish are present all year so we can do cuttlefish competition... anyway, are there any soles around on the east arm now?

There are soles about on the marina, but it had been basically C**p the last six years or so. Widewater and the shoreham beaches seem to throw more up these days!!

Cuttle comp...... Actually........ I will talk to the event sponsor....... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />
<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> That would be a good idea, my mate has caught one last september about 5 lbs on feathers.. quite a scary creature <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />
THIS EVENT IS NOW CANCELLED DUE TO THE WEATEHR> ON SPEAKING WITH THE SPONSOR, WE HAVE DECIDED THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY CANCELLED UNTIL 2010 AND MATT WHO WON THE TAKE 1 EVENT WILL BE OFFICIALLY ALL ENGLAND CEPHALOD CHAMPION 2009. WELL DONE MATT!!
Hi Rob,

Just back from hols, really sorry that it couldn't go ahead after all your and sponsers work.......British weather <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I hope to be back next year to defend the title and help to raise some more money for charity.

Cheers for now & thanks for the organisation.

Matt.
