Hey everyone. Hope you are catching good. I would like to take a trip to Japan and catch the massive san kilo squid. Are these creatures of the sea that plentiful or are they few and far between. Can these monsters be caught year round or are a few months out of the year better than others. How about location. I have heard Izu is good, but were in Izu or any other places. Traveling and communicating are no problem.
Thanks
Jay
3 kilo squid can be caught in spring. Izu if you're lucky but Okinawa would be your best bet. Friends are already catching 2kilo+ squid there. You can also get them off Wakayama, probably better then Izu, but the season is very short. Wakayama squid are still under 2 kilo but the peak is likely to be around the begining of May.
And the biggest ones are taken with bait. 3 kilo with an egi si kind of the holy grail of egging over here.
Sorry. 3 kilo squid are being caught in Okinawa

Thanks for the info on Okinawa. I know a couple of people who used to live there and say the fishing is pretty good. Thanks again and good luck in finding that holy grail. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
