Hey guys.

This is my first post to your fantastic site. I just wanted to share that I caught three of these guys off Beaumaris tonight on a #3 jig just before nightfall....and with a bit of salt and pepper they went down a bloody treat!

hi Andrew

It is really nice to see them in port philip bay, do you get them on boat or at pier?

Cheers

Pier Wing. Beaumaris Pier in front of the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron Club. At first I was slowly retrieving the jig at a steady pace, but I wasn't getting any bites. So I tried a more stop-start jerky motion which luckily seemed to do the trick.

Andrew.
Hi Guys.

I fish Beaumaris Pier for squid quite regularly, so if you guys are interested I can post what's happening down there each time I go.

I went to Beaumaris this morning looking for calamari. None around (for me anyway!!!!!!!!!!) so I switched rigs and was lucky to get a couple of nice Salmon! It was sooooooooooooo windy.

that is a really nice pic!!! i saw a salmon the other day come into my berley trail at mt martha. but then i think it saw me and took off <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> was about half a kilo i guess.
Yeah its always funny when a nice fish will become besotted by the jig but then have no interest in a hook!!!!!!!
Hey I fish BMYS pier on occasions- is it doing any good at the moment? Last time I was there (2 weeks ago) very little ink on the pier then.
I was there last week and didn't see a lot of ink ...just few <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

no luck to get a squid

sound better go to mornington later <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
Yep it seems that often that area is pretty barren, pity its close to home....
I got one small calamari two nights ago but that was it. It took two solid hours to catch it too!
At least you got 1...... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />
yep!
I tried for some squid tonight with no success. So I dropped a hook in and was lucky enough to land this Salmon after about 5 mins! I had him for dinner tonight with a fresh salad and a few quite beers. OM NOM NOM NOM!

nice work!!!!
Thanks so much Glen.
hey blinkings

how are you?

I think there are some squids at Beaumaris Pier, I saw few inks on the pier.

Was there around 4 till 6pm, got nothing and find it is a bit hard to fishing squid.... the jog alway hooked the seabed. it was windy.. a bit rain...

but it was productive for fishing.. saw 2 decent size of snapper. and 1 larger snapper was hooked... 50 to 60cm long...

and 1 Ray( skate)? was hooked... almost 1 metre wide...
