Hi
New to the site and quite new to squidding as well - but want to have a crack at it.
Was thinking about heading out this week and just wanting to know where are the best places at the moment in the Freo area - off the mole or in the river?
And is sunset still the best time at this point in the year?
Any advice would help massively
Cheers
Stirlo
Hey Stirlo, I've been squiddin a fair bit lately, and dawn or dusk have been both good for me but lucky to get more than two at a time and still quite smallish, off the moles or fishing boat har walls. I've heard heaps about swan river squid and put in a few hours with no joy, yet.. good luck..

hey sterlo if your still looking for a good spot i have been geting squid at point peron you have to walk a liitle bit to the point called john point , it is the most northern point of point peron have been getting 4 to 6 each trip within a hour while chasing salmon. jigs are ok but i find using a spike with a mulie suspended 1 metre under a large float the best way . they have been 1kg to 1.5kg pretty big hey

hey damo, can u tell me where john point is.I cannpt can't find it on the map.Thank u in advance!
its at point peron. its the most northern point of point peron. ie the side you see garden island from you have to walk about 700 m from the car park there are little walk signs which point you in the right direction. ps take salmon fishing gear with you they will be there very soon.
Hi guys,I think we better have a squidding party some day.
Brand new to this, but after reading through your site i thought i would give squidding a go and what a great decision it was. I went out on a rented kayak from Torbay kayak hire and fished the end of Paignton pier dragging a squid rig and my first was on within 5 minutes, fished for 2 hours and landed 12 squid all about a foot long, the kayak was black when i handed it back and it's one of the best nights fishing I have ever had.
Just thought i'd say what a great site <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> and
thanks for the new hobbie.
Does any body know when the squid leave The Torbay area.?
At the moment squidding is great at Princess Pier in Torquay as well. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
