Hi all

this is a good question????

Which is the best squid fishing location in the country?

No need to give specific GPS points for obvious reasons.

Options here in Vic are:

1. Flinders

2. Mt Martha

3. Queenscliff

4. Portsea

5. Killarney

6. Pt Lonsdale

Any others?

Cheers

Blue.
I would guess South Australia is better than Victoria!
Bloody crow eaters!!!

Which places in SA Glen?
i vote portsea simply because i've been to the other places <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
I only ever tried Rosetta Head in SA and it was great.
oops

i've "never" been to other places =]
hang on...what about us brisso's

here's my picks

no 1 ... manly harbour

no 2 ... who bloody cares

I've still got a freezer full of the buggers..hahahahahaha

must admit we had a cracker of a year this year.

out of thoses on the option list i would say flinders. i wanna have a crack at lorne one day soon
I wouldn't go any where near saying Lorne is the best place for squid (with the amount of times i've gone home empty handed).

From all reports over the years around here, Queenscliff and around that area and near Hasting in WPB produce the best size squid.

I'd like to add, that anywhere in a boat is the best place for squid.

We just anchored up in the Whitsundays and dropped a light over the back, swarms of squid came through. You could catch them with a dip net if you were fast enough.

I want to try this idea back home now. We had a traditional white light, but i saw lots of boats up there using blue LEDs... food for thought.
hey r u12 mug, do you get 3kg calamari off manly?

We get them regularly here at the right time of the year.
white or blue lights.....

it doesn't make much difference. i prefer white

a lot of boats fit the blue ones only because they look better, not because they work better <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
Thanks mate, we also noted huge 1meter + Barramundi swimming in the Blue lights of the Marina at night.

So i guess got all excited about these "Blue" lights.
