Anyone tried these inventions?
They look pretty effective.
At the end of the day a well presented bait stick will out fish even the best made japanese squid jig.

Wow, they look great.
I'd love to know how they bait the fish as shown, so neat it looks like Photoshop to me <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Bluewater hunter, you have me thinking now, i have 3 or 4 200gm and 300gm Knife Jigs here for King Fish, but only of any use when in NSW....
If they had a Squid Jig set of barbs on the end, would be great for dropping down the water columns for squid.
The knive jigs cost $5ea, so they are sure cheap enough, just need to find the appropriate barbed treble type thing to hang off the bottom eye
Nice idea!!!
A bit of innovation!
These would not work on calamari but the arrow squid might be a go!
Cheers
Blue.
Thanks BWH, yes we mainly get Arrow Squid around here.
Although the odd calamari is caught.
And as an interesting paradox, the last time i dropped 2 proper Squid Jigs to the ocean floor, i caught 2 fish with in seconds.
Maybe i should try it more often <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

salty dog..have you heard about the proposed mako shark ban?
Sure have, and its not proposed, its already passed.
That is news to me!! So can you still catch them and throw them back?
C&R is still being debated, it's all come down to an issue over Commonwealth Waters and Federal Waters, even the powers at be can't seem to give as an answer.
Plenty of talk of it on the Fishing Forums, very long threads, 20 pages plus.
Interesting reading, as it all boils down to a treaty that was signed.
Still even though the ban has come about from decline in Mako numbers in a country 8000 miles from here, i could see that one day this would happen in our waters.
It will just be interesting as to what changes in the Fishing Guidelines are made to enforce it. I.E limited burely or no wire leaders or some such thing.
We can still target Thresher and Blues, so i find it hard to see how a Mako isn't going to jump on the same gear.
Point will be, do we have to cut it free on first I.D. or can we do it boat side (and get our gear back)
