Took a couple of mates out last night and we caught 16 before calling it a night as the southerly was blowing up. My first 5 casts scored 5 squid. I am having a ball using my new squid fishing rod which is a Shimano Sephia Salty Shot 8'6" model matched to a Daiwa Sol 2500 <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> . My mates couldn't believe the flying start but they managed a few themselves. They were caught on a variety of jigs from the $4 specials to the usual Daiwa, Yama's and Yo Zuri's. Fished a spot I haven't fished for about 15 years! Sorry can't give away the spot (I only bring a very select few into this world) but I have fished a few different spots over the last few weeks and averaging about 6 each session so get out there and do it!
Nice outfit, does mainline also come in mens? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

salty dog - pink is the new black as they say he he he. I had Daiwa Sensor Braid on the Sol to match the colour of the reel but changed to some Varivas Egi line and it has made a difference in catch rates.
Hi Budda, rough location please <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

well done.
i have been looking at getting a sephia, are they a good rod?
light?
good for casting small jigs?
mase
I have a Sephia Salty Shot which is lighter in the tip which is good for 2-3.5's
I mainly use 3's and occasionally 2.5's and the Sephia BB series is crisper in action.
For about $265 to your door from Plat Japan the Sephia BB is awesome value and no doubt would cost $400 if bought locally

I had been using a Sol 3000 but took into sevice after about 3 years to be told it was basically worn out.
I had hoped to get a bit more life out of it thn that, I recently bought the 2500 and love it but am now concerned as to its longevity
