I'd like to head down to Edmonds this weekend to try my hand at squidding for the first time. I think I know what I need in terms of tackle and (sort of) technique. But I have few questions and would appreciate any help you guys want to give me!

Have folks been catching decently at Edmonds?

What time should I go? I had thought you needed to wait until after dark (like late at night), but have seen references on here about people squidding at 6pm, or at tide change, etc. Does the tide determine when you should go? I'm quite clueless on the "when" <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

How strong a light do I need? I've seen people mention floodlights and generators (which I do not have) and someone else mentioned a battery-powered camping lantern on a rope held near the water (this is a setup I could achieve, but is it bright enough?).

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I LOVE LOVE LOVE eating squid and I love fishing so this is a natural step for me! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

I've used a latern before and it seamed to work just fine . I had 2 of them and droped them down buy the water. But its best to have a generator and a couple of 500 watt lights. Edmonds has'nt been good for me but others have had some luck. The best squidin is at night I like to go on the incoming tide im pretty sure thats the best time to go. good luck!
