I was interested to do some fishing for squid from the beach. Area is lower york peninsular in south aust. Beach has wonderful pools and rock and weeded surrounds. Am I mad ? or would it be possible to catch squid from the beach ? Water depth above weedsand rocks is about 2 metres plus. Easy to cast into these areas.
I would be delighted to receive a reply ? Best rergards davidmuir

It is definitively possible to catch squid from the beach. i have seen squids attacking my soft plastics before, and i was working my lures on the beach in around 1 meter of water - but it doesnt happen often, and the squids are usually small. if you can find a rock to hop on and cast straight into the weedy area, you might have a better chance of success.
first question..are you talking about squid or calamari?
If it is the latter then yes, provided it is reasonably sheltered.
I would say most of the posts here are about calamari, not squid.
cheers
