Hello All,
As we all know squid have a beck, like a parrot.
Just curious if anyone has been bitten or heared of anyone been bitten?
Happy Squiding
I've had some close calls but not after I made a little landing net to stop the near misses
I reckon they would take a clean chunk out of you if they did bite you.

Yeah I've had some try to pull my fingers in but no bites as yet. I'm sure it'll happen one day though.
So many people get bitten buy fish when landing them or holding them, i guess alot more people are fishing for squid rather than squid.
I've been bitten by a small octopus, hurts like hell, and you bleed a lot. Do not try.
Nice,
what where you doing for it to bite you?
i do imagine a squid bite will be close to the octpus...
It can be said that i actually asked for it, i was picking it up and putting it back down, annoying the hell out of it.
Squid are quite agressive and will bit at just about anything....getting bitten by a calamari is another issue altogether.
You would have to be a fair idiot to get bitten by a southern calamari!!
Cheers
Blue.
true about being an idiot but im sure someone out there has been bitten.

this Occy stealing the video camera off a diver could have been a very nasty bite or two.

In the UK, later in the year, few people are squidding but lots of people are bassing with a smaller relation of the cod (pouting) as livebait. Far too often, you get a slow pull, and when you reel in, the pouting is dead. Why? Cos the squid has cut away a big "V" in its back, bone, flesh everything, perfectly gone. That beak must have at least the power of a man with a pair of scissors. Avoid!!
What they do...........
One of the very few to be landed.........
can you eat those arrow squid? they are instant bait here

What do you use them for over there? (BTW, I researched the squid, and got told the name is "Long Thin Squid". They might be having a giggle with me, but could that be another name for Arrow squid?)
On asking that question, it lead to a brief flurry of surfing (doh!! Got to be up in four hours....) and I obviously misheard as I believe they are Long Finned Squid, and Arrow squid is a local name. Which lead me to this...........

Loligo forbesi, Veined squid it is also known as the Long-Finned squid in UK for some reason.

Bait... Arrow squid mostly being the californian variety are mass sold as bait around the world, it is AWESOME bait. Mucho grande live bait.
I'd run some pouting on a bait jig under a float, you'd clean up if your losing heaps because of the treble hooks...

Wow!! I want, I want...... We get robbed on imported squidding gear in the UK. A stainless standard spike with two rows of needles at the bottom, £3.95. Does that sound right to you?
yeah sounds about right...
