Heading down Great ocean rd tomorrow and will be going as far as portland.

What i want to know is if any squiders have fished here recently and what were the best locations.

I havnt fished down this way for a lot of years and then it was salmon in the surf i,ve never fished for squid down

this way before, but one place will be lorne pier as when googling it there seems to be plenty of weed beds at the pier.

So any info will be a bonus............yeah i know i should have posted this a week ago "Doh"

Cheers ian
apparently there are a few drag testers in Apollo Bay harbour and Warnambool Pier.
Thanks Rocksy,

Well myself and the missuz travelled the GOR all the way to portland,

now having the opportunity to have a squid fish along the way i chose not to upset the apple kart by squiding on the missuz holidays...........how smart am i ???..................however.

I did some reasearch along the way lorne, apollo bay, warny, and Portland heaps of ink at all locations, but the place that caught my eye was Lorne fantastic pier and location for big squid to come out of the strong ocean currents and rest in these quiet waters around the pier protected from the breakers by a rocky Groin.

However i didnt suggest (with great restrain) that i could just whip out the squid gear and have a few casts NO.

I did the smart thing and i did everything she wanted and kept her happy so i could squid another day <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Well the first chance i get i,ll be back there for an overnighter......Magic grounds here for some rippers ink every where and some big ink <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' />

maybe organise a couple of members for a trip ????? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rod:' />

cheers ian

My interest is peaked... might be worth a September weekend away. Squid gaff maybe...?

how far between the water and the pier at low tide do you reckon it is?
some good ink marks there , looks a bit like the path at manly harbour atm ink all over the place....and before you ask...I dont know nothing about it hahahahahahahahahaha.

funny thing was last night I lifted a squid out of the water and onto the path and it shot ink straight across the path and straight up over a car park there.....I moved rather quickly up the path hahahahaha

If I could get the picture post thingy to work on this site I would show you some great pics.

open a free photobucket or flickr account dude. easy as.

when you reply to the posts, there is an icon above the dialog box for 'insert image' which asks for the URL to the image.

What i do is save my pics to Photobucket then you click on the [img] code and it copies it, then paste the code into squid fish post.
