We were asked for the squid candy recipe:

Cut squid into strips 1/2-1 inch wide

Mix 50% soy sauce and 50% (or use straight light soy sauce) water add sugar or Splenda to your taste. We usually put in 3 big tablespoons for a cup of liquid

Pour over squid strips and refrig overnight.

In morning drain the squid and dry for an hour or two.

Place strips on desacator trays and wait an hour before starting the heat and blower.

Depending on the quality of your desacator, it will take about two to five hours to dry.

We dry them until the are crisp enough to break.

A great treat and we can take them without refrigeration on long trips.

A potter friend just gave us this for the holidays. It is handmade and hand painted. If anyone is interested, write to us and we'll put you in touch with her.
